I can’t believe I’m blogging a New York City Hall wedding! Say whaaaat! You may remember Lindsay and Paul from their engagement session this past spring.
When they first contacted me, they were originally planning a wedding next year in Atlanta, where Lindsay is from. One night I was sitting on my couch and I got an email that said “We were thinking about getting married in New York instead, and this upcoming September. Does that work for you?” Enough said, I was on board.
Macklin, my husband and second shooter this trip, made our way to NYC and were bursting at the seams with excitement for their wedding day. We arrived at Gild Hall, a gorgeous boutique hotel, as they got ready for their first look and walk to City Hall.
I don’t think I’ve been a part of a wedding with so much excitement. I mean, walking down the streets of NYC with the hustle and bustle with a groom and bride-to-be. And then the excitement of New York’s Marriage Bureau where there are brides, grooms, and family and friends all around waiting for their number to be called. There are so many different kinds of people there, but they are all there for one reason: to commit their lives to the person beside them. It was so romantic in a not-so-romantic way.
To top it off, we all got street hot dogs as Lindsay and Paul were freshly married.
We met back up with them after we all got a nice nap (you have to arrive early on in the day to get married!), and had dinner at Gallow Green, a fabulous rooftop restaurant. There were bistro lights everywhere and killer views. From there, we took a party bus (oh, just wait until you see the photos) and they had a private reception with 25 of their closest family and friends at the Lucky Guy Club.
All in all, it was a day I will remember FOREVER.
Lindsay and Paul, Macklin and I had an absolute blast being a part of your day, and we consider ourselves so, so lucky that we got to be apart of it. It’s obvious why so many of your friends and family love you. And we got to see it firsthand after spending time with so many of them. Hope you’re having fun in Italy for your honeymoon! Now let’s hang out when you get back to STL 🙂
