Our Front Porch Wedding

Filed in Personal  /  March 29, 2016 /

Now that we’ve hit the 6 month mark since our front porch wedding, I figured it would be the perfect time to share our wedding photos. A little late perhaps, but I’ve loved looking through the photos as I prepare this blog post.

On September 12, I woke up to a morning a little chillier than I anticipated. It turns out Mother Nature wanted to give us her first beautiful fall day! I calmed my nerves and soaked up the quiet moments before everything began… by watching Parenthood on Netflix and ate some breakfast.

Since I have watched so many brides on their wedding days, I know how hard it can be really slow down. I pledged to myself I would soak up all the moments I could and not let a second pass me by. That attitude really helped make the day so, so special. I didn’t let anything get me frazzled. I knew as long as I married Macklin, that’s all that mattered.

After getting ready, we headed to my grandma’s house (where we got married on her front porch!). Her house has been in the family for over 100 years, and I’ve had so many special moments at her house. Before we were engaged, we knew that’s where we wanted to eventually get married. I couldn’t believe my dreams of getting married on the porch were coming true!

The day unfolded like most wedding days. I got ready with my bridesmaids, moms, and grandmas.  We had our first look after exchanging gifts — I gifted Macklin a watch and he gifted me a beautiful locket. We took photos. And then we had a beautiful ceremony followed by the best night of our lives. Seriously, we threw one hell of a party.

I won’t go into the details of the entire day, but I’ll just say it was the BEST DAY EVER. I tell all of my couples “All of your favorite people in the world will be in one place. No matter what goes wrong, it’s still going to be the best day.” And it’s so true!

I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Thank you to Jamie Jones for beautifully capturing our day and giving us such a wonderful gift in these photos. If you want to see the video of our day, click here (the photo of me crying at the reception was from the same day edit!)
